A little bit about me…
As a high school senior, I felt compelled to follow in my father’s footsteps of serving our country and enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon graduation, I shipped out for boot camp and then completed advanced training. I was deployed aboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1), supporting operations in the Persian Gulf, Somalia, and later in Bosnia.
In my six years of active duty service in the Navy, I learned many lessons about what makes our country so exceptional and found a great deal of camaraderie with my fellow service men and women.
After my deployment, I returned home to Falls County and began working for the Double E Ranch in Travis, Texas. It was during this time, I met the love of my life, Tiffany Pomykal, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and we were married. I also began to pursue my life’s calling of serving my community in law enforcement.
During my service in the Naval reserves, I earned an Associate’s Degree from Temple Junior College, as well as my Peace Officer license in December of 2000. In January 2001, I became a Deputy Sheriff for the Falls County Sheriff’s Office, while, continuing my education at McLennan Community College and Tarleton State University.
While serving with the FCSO, I also worked as an agent for the AGRIPLEX Taskforce, a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force, helping to fight the scourge of narcotics in Falls County and surrounding communities. I graduated from Tarleton State University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and I applied to the Texas Game Warden Academy. Upon acceptance, I stepped away from FCSO in order to complete the challenging six-month police academy, graduating second in my class.
Upon completion of the academy, I was a newly commissioned Game Warden and stationed in Newton County, where Tiffany and I welcomed our first child, Beau. After three years of service in Newton County, I was able to transfer to McLennan County. Shortly thereafter, Tiffany and I rejoiced with the birth of our daughter, McKinley. Earning enough seniority through faithful service, I was able to transfer home to Falls County when a Warden position opened here. I served as the Falls County Game Warden until I was promoted to Captain Game Warden and was required to transfer to the coast.
On the coast, I supervised Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Jackson, and Lavaca Counties. I earned certifications in the Federal Emergency Management Agency Incident Command System including NIMS multi-agency coordination and an intermediate certification for Expanding Incidents. Once again, I was fortunate enough to be able to transfer home and I supervised the Waco District that includes Erath, Hood, Johnson, Somervell, Hill, Bosque, Hamilton, Coryell, McLennan and Falls Counties.
As a Texas Game Warden and Game Warden Captain, I have put my state and federal training to use by responding to, organizing, planning and leading emergency responses for critical incidents such as Hurricane Rita, Ike and Harvey, multiple flooding responses, tornado responses, the explosion in West, various manhunts, as well as delivering supplies and conducting community caretaking functions during the recent ice storms.
My family and I make our home in Pleasant Grove. Tiffany is a teacher at Westphalia where McKinley attends school. Beau attends Rosebud-Lott High School. Both children are active in multiple sports as well as the Rocky Hill 4-H. We are active members of First Baptist Church in Lott, Texas.
Through this entire journey, this county and community has helped make me who I am today and it is important to me to continue serving this county, which means so much to me.
I greatly appreciate your vote and support!
